NATIONAL SCHOOL
Comenius Project - "I eat, therefore
I am"
Meeting of the partner schools in The Czech
Republic Friday, 30.11.2001
Venue: Dvúr Kralóva nad Labem
-
About 130 Km north east of Prague on the slopes
of the Giant Mountains
Eleven Schools from different parts of Europe were represented at
this meeting in this lovely town in the north east of the Czech Republic.
Coordinators came from Sweden, Italy, Malta, Finland, Greece, Romania
(2 schools), Slovinia, Wales, Ireland and the of course the Czech Republic.
We arrived for the first fall of snow of the winter. It gave the town,
pop.7,000, a magical wonderland atmosphere. The air was cold and dry which
contrasted to our cold and wet weather.
We will have fond memories of the hospitality of the people, especially
Vera the coordinator and her colleagues Helena and Eva, from the
Gymnásium, who went out of their way to make us feel at home immediately.
Their beautiful clean and warm school was a credit to them and their
students. The majestic building with its regal entrance stairways, science
laborotary, library and the newly refurbished auditorium would put many
of our own schools in Ireland to shame. The standard of spoken English
was an indication of the very high standard in the school where the students
were so interested and dedicated.
Congratulations to all involved!
