School Garden - Planning
Project Team - All in 4th, 5th and 6th Classes and any juniors who
wish to help with the practical work.
Recorder - Marion, IT experts -Martin and Séamus
Animation, if we have any - Barry and Terry
At The Planning Stage - We start in Autumn.
List of what needs to be done sometime during
the year!
1. Propagation of Trees and Shrubs
Cold Frame, cuttings, seeds, potting of young plants, layering of
cottoneaster and learn more about grafting.
2. Planting ?
3. Pruning and Cutting Back
5. Pond, What's to be done?
6. Lawns?
7. Planing for next year?
8. Ground cover near junior playground.
9. Wall cover and fill pillars along roadside.
10. Finish our Nature Walk - Tour of our Garden.
11. Enter for the ESB Environment Awareness Competition again this
year.
12. Our Aim in the beginning is "to create a habitat" for Birds,
Animals and Insects in our School Yard and Garden. How are we doing?
13 We might even get to the Roadside this
year!

Heritage Trail
Our Nature/ Heritage Trail.
When visitors come to visit us - and we get lots from all
over - we bring them on a tour of our gardens. (We have nearly three acres
in all around our school).

We had a great time and learned a lot.
The lady in charge, Cáit Curran was very nice and allowed
us to join in the classes. She said we knew a lot about gardening. She
answered all our questions and showed us how to do many things. Teacher
promised us that he will bring us to see her garden next May when it is
looking its best.
