Angling
is a terrific way to explore the
beauty and unspoilt scenery, abundant around Boyle and its surrounding
areas. Boyle is well established as one of the big fishing venues in Ireland
and over the years has hosted all the main fishing festivals in the country.
Our rivers, lakes and streams carry an abundance of coarse fish. Lough
Arrow and Cavetown Lake are probablyf the best
trout lakes in the country.

| Lough
Arrow - Is an excellent trout lake renound for its may fly fishing
and is just 15 minutes drive from us. Boats can be hired locally.There is also
good Trout, Pike and perch fishing on the River Arrow. Season here is fro 1st
March to 30th September and NWRFB permits are needed. |

River
Boyle is a tributary of the River
Shannon, it connects Loughs Gara and Lough
Key. Upstream of the town are quality bream, rudd, perch, roach, eels,
hybrid and brown trout. Downstream, pike are to be found. Lough Nasool,
13m north, contains rainbow trout, details from Eileen McDonagh, (071)
65325, beside the lake. Tackle shops: Abbey Marine, Carrick Rd; Christy Wynne,

Lough
Bo provides good shore fishing for brown
trout. Fly only. Season 1 April-30 Sept. Lake na Leibe has
rainbow trout stocked by Central Fisheries Board. Season 1 April-30 Sept. Fishing
from shore or boat. There is a good stock of brown trout in Lough Feenagh
which has boats for hire. River fishing on River Unshin and
River Feorrish (above Ballyfarnon); trout. Coarse fishing on
Templehouse Lake and Cloonacleigha Lake which
has good pike fishing and boats for hire. Coarse and trout fishing is also available
on Lough Key, 3m east of Arrow. |

Cavetown
Lake , is just 15 mins. and 5 miles from
us and is on the N61 route. Beside the lake is a great picnic area. There is
also facilities for disabled fishermen here |

An open Pike Competition is held on Lough Key in
the Autumn as well as an Annual Easter Pike Festival with great
prizes. Various club competitions are held for adults and juniors throughtout
the year
