The Round Tower and Yew Tree leaf and fruit come from the
history of Aghadoe.
The ruins of Aghadoe consist of an Abbey,
Round Tower and a Castle built in the seventh century. Some
historians say it’s foundations are older than Innisfallen ( the
largest island on the Lakes of Killarney, it is over 21 acres).
The Cathedral Abbey was a low oblong structure.
Aghadoe is the field of the two yew trees and
is immortalized in the beautiful poems of the same name.
