Co-league Group E - Game 4 Sat 23/6/07

Fossa 0-07 Kenmare 1-11

Fossa played Kenmare on Saturday evening in the co-league in Gortroe, unfortunately they came off second best in this encounter. The first half was evenly enough balanced with scores being at a premium, Tim Bitrim and Padraig Clifford had a point each and Darragh Rice scored two, the second one being a gem when he used his blistering pace to cut in from the left wing to kick over a great score. The half time score was Fossa 0-4 Kenmare 0-7. In the second half Kenmare gained the upper hand when they scored a crucial goal and their superior strength and teamwork ensured that Fossa were never allowed to threaten their goal, however Fossa did fight all the way to the end and further points by Padraig Clifford and Darragh Rice left the final scoreline at Fossa 0-7 Kenmare 1-11. A feature of the Kenmare play was the display given by their fullforward, one Jackie-Healy-Rae, this young man proved equally adept at creating havoc amongst the opposition as his famous grandfather, with his footballing skills on the edge of the small square!!

Co-league Group E - Game 3

Beaufort 0-11 Fossa 5-09 Tues 19/6/07

Fossa played Beaufort at a very wet Beaufort on Tuesday evening. The first half was close in scoring terms even though Fossa had a lot of possession but they failed to convert this into scores. The highlight of the first half was a goal by Colm Walsh after smart approach play involving Mikey Shea and Padraig Clifford, Fossa lead at half time 1-5 to 0-4. In the second half Fossa really got to grips with the game and kicked some fine scores, the best being a brilliant individual goal by Padraig Clifford. Beaufort tried hard to get back in the game but they needed goals and with Maurice Prendeville having a fine game in goal they couldn't make the breakthrough. The Fossa defence all played very well in tough conditions, Mikey Shea and Matthew Rennie played really well at midfield  even though their direct opponents were much bigger than them and the forwards combined very well, especially in the second half, when they kicked great scores when they were most needed. The final score was Fossa 5-9 Beaufort 0-11.
Team Maurice Prendeville, Stephen O' Connor, Brendan Curren, Padraig Donoghue, Padraig Devane, Ashling Coffey 0-1, Johnny Coffey, Mikey Shea 1-1, Matthew Rennie, Darragh Rice 0-1, Padraig Clifford 2-5, Shane Cronin, Brian Myers 0-1,Colm Walsh 1-0, Tim Bitrim 1-0. Co-league Group E - Game 2

Fossa 2-7 Rathmore 4-11 Sun 10/6/07
Fossa played Rathmore on Sunday evening in Fossa, this game was played in ideal conditions but unfortunately for Fossa the first half proved to be a struggle as they met a bang in form side whose physical strength was too much for them to handle. Rathmore kicked scores at will in this half and they completely dominated all sectors of the field and they lead at half time 3-7 to 0-3. In the second half, Fossa, with nothing to lose,  got stuck in and they proceded to play well, an early goal by Colm Walsh after a great pass from Padraig Clifford brought them back into the game. Points by Shane Cronin and two by Mikey Shea gave Fossa a lifeline but Rathmore killed the game off when they scored their 4th goal of the game, however Fossa fought right to the end and a brilliant individual goal by Padraig Clifford could not rescue this one. Rathmore proved much too strong in many departments but for Fossa, they also had players who steped up to the mark when the need was greatest, at fullback Brendan Curren was very solid, the entire half back line of Ashling Coffey, Matthew Rennie and Johnny Coffey were excellent, especially in the second half, at midfield Mikey Shea played well against much bigger opposition and in the forwards Padraig Clifford gave his customary display of all-action football combined with some great scores.

Kenmare 2-11, Fossa 3-3 Sunday May 13th

Fossa travelled to Kenmare on Sunday evening to play them in the fourth round of the co-league. This was a game that was determined largely by the elements with a strong wind aiding Fossa in the first half but they struggled to make it count on the scoreboard. Scores were hard to come by in this half, Kenmare opened the scoring with a point and while Fossa had a lot of possession the could not get through a strong Kenmare defence, however goals by Paudie Clifford and Padraig Devane gave them the lead at half time 2-1 to 1-1. Kenmare had the wind to their backs in the 2nd half and they used it to good effect kicking over 10 points and while Fossa tried valiently they could not breech the Kenmare defence even though they did get a goal to bring them within 3 points at one stage. Kenmare held on to win by 2-11 to 3-3.
