Activities
We organise lectures on subjects of historical interest. Each summer we arrange day and evening outings to places of historical interest around Ireland.
We conduct research on local history topics and produce local history publications on many of these topics. We also organise an annual local history exhibition.

Lectures At 8pm on the second Tuesday of the month from September to May (excluding December) we run a meeting at the Foxrock Community Centre (behind Foxrock Church). The meeting starts with a short talk on a local topic. This is followed by the main lecture and then questions and answers.

Outings Every year in May and June we organise two afternoon or evening outings to local places of historical interest. In 2003 we visited Dublinia in Dublin in May. We were also guided around the lead mines in Ballycorus by Rob Goodbody. And the full day outing for 2003 brought us to Hook Head light house, Dunbrody cistercian abbey and the John F. Kennedy arboretum.

Publications Many of the lectures given at our monthly meetings are then produced in booklet form as part of our publication series. These booklets cost 2 euro each and you are welcome to buy them at any of our meetings. There are now over 40 booklets in the series.
See our Publication List.

Exhibitions We often organise exhibitions on local history topics which are then displayed in local libraries and other public places.
For 2001, we organised an exhibition at Foxrock Community Centre on the subject of South County Dublin’s Christian Past.

Research Our members enjoy researching local families, houses, events and other aspects of our local history. A number of committee members have recently completed researching the history of Cabinteely House.
You can read an introduction to local history written by one of our committee members, Liam Clare, on the ENFO web site.
