Carrickmines Castle Excavation
Archaeologists under the direction of Dr. Mark Clinton have unearthed the extensive foundations of medieval Carrickmines Castle, which served for years as a garrison fort to defend Dublin against marauding raids by the O’Byrnes and O’Tooles of Wicklow.

Pre-Norman cemetery found at Cabinteely
At Cabinteely, a large pre-Norman enclosed cemetery was excavated in advance of the development of a filling station for ESSO Ireland Ltd. The site known locally as Mount Offaly, is located along the Dublin-bound carriageway of the N11, some 700m southwest of Cabinteely village. Read a Report on the project.
