One day Jesus got into a boat with
and said to
, "Let us go across to the other side of the lake."
So they started out. As they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep.
Suddenly a strong wind blew down on the lake, and the boat
began to fill with water, so that
was in great danger.
went to Jesus and woke him up, saying,
"Master, Master! We are about to die!" Jesus got up and gave an order to the wind and the stormy weather; they died down, and there was a great calm. Then Jesus said to , "Where is your faith?"
But
was amazed and afraid, and wondered,
"Who is this man? He gives orders to the winds and waves,
and they obey him!"

Therefore I tell you,
, do not worry about your life, what you will eat
or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear.
, is not your life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
, are you not of more value than they? And,
can you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?
Consider the lillies of the fields,
, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon
in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is
alive today, and tomorrow is thrown into the ovens, will he not much more clothe you,
, you of little faith. ....
So, , do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today. (Based on Matthew 6:25-34) |

, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately

As Jesus was setting out on a journey,
ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said to
, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: 'You must not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.' "
said to him, "Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth." Jesus, looking at
, loved
and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." When
heard this, shock and grief overcame

went away, for great were the possessions that were held by
.
