Battery
Normally,
the battery is a round battery, similar to a wristwatch battery.
Sometimes
a larger battery may be attached to the system unit and connected to the
motherboard by a cable.
The
battery is essential as it enables the computer to store initial settings
such as data, time and hard disk type. If the battery fails, it must be
replaced and these settings re-input.
CMOS
(Complementary Metal -Oxide Semiconductor) Battery
The
function of the CMOS battery is to provide a small electrical charge to
maintain hardware parameters when the computer is turned off.
Hardware parameters include:-
Date
and time, Disk drive types and sizes. In addition to other user definable
parameters
