SIMM

SIMM stands for Single Inline Memory Module .

SIMMs are found on 486 and some Pentium systems.

These are slots which are arranged in banks of either 30 or 72 pins. Most PC manufacturers now use 72 pin SIMM format for motherboard RAM. The pins are the little metal strips along the bottom.

SIMM memory is inserted into the Single Inline Memory Modules (slots).

The main function of SIMMs is to enable the RAM (Random Access Memory) to change quickly.
