Dermot Keane, The Neale.

Community Award.

This award goes to a man who has devoted much of his free time catering for the Youth in Sporting matters. Dermot Keane, who has been Secretary of the Council National Schools Sports Council for the past two years, had achieved so much in such a short space of time in the promotion of Hurling, Football, Camogie and Rounders at School level.

Teachers all over the County are seeking his advice in many Sports. The huge volume of correspondence which Dermot has to deal with is enormous and the panel of judges felt that this award would in some small way give him encouragement to continue the good work.

P.J Qualter also thanked Barry and Lidia, he was impressed with the progress of Hurling in Ballina in the last 2 years and congratulated the Stephenites U 14 team on winning Feile and the County Championship for the past two years.
