Forsythia
Obtained in Germany in 1885 from the cross of two Chinese species, it is a deciduous flower shrub. It usually shows rough branches (save some dwarf varieties) and it is grown mostly for its golden bell-shaped flowers at the beginning of spring.
Sunlight.
Everyday during the vegetative season, water it less frequently in winter. Sprinkle it when the soil is moderately dry.
Every two weeks, during the vegetative season; in spring before blossom time, if possible.
In alternate years in autumn or in late winter but after the flowering; use base mould.
Prune the branches after the flowering but before the new shoots harden; pinch and shape the buds.
By cuttings.
Suitable for Informal Upright, Slanting, Prostrate, Cascade, Double Trunk, Common Stump, Multiple Trunk styles. Suitable for all sizes.
