First Final For Gaels In Ten Years.
GALTEE GAELS 1-10 GALBALLY 0-6.
Galtee Gaels have reached their first intermediate county final in ten years by
virtue of a well earned victory over close rivals
Galbally. Despite a nervous start by the Gaels the result of this
semi final was never in doubt.
Galbally were much quicker out of the blocks and had the Gaels under pressure
for the first 15 minutes during which the Gaels committed far too many fouls. A
better scoring team than Galbally would have punished the Gaels more on the
score board.
Galbally led 2points to nil before a rather fortuitous goal by
Niall O' Mahony kick-started the Gaels semi-final. From this stage on the Gaels
took control of the game and finished the first half 1-3 to 0-5 ahead. Straight
from the re-start the Gaels took control of the game and some excellent scores
from Tom Noonan, Conor Moriarty, Tom O' Mahony and
Eddie O' Gorman gave the Gaels a well deserved victory. There were some
excellent performances by Dave Moriarty, Andy Breedy and John Quane on the
Night.
The Gaels now face Newcastle West in the final on Sept' 10th and we wish them the very best of luck in their
preparations.
