BantryBantry is a fairly large town with a deep harbour. There is fairly varied fishing, but it is mainly rock fishing for pollack, mackerel, bull huss, dogfish, and wrasse. There are some sandier areas where ray, bass and flatfish can be caught. In the rockier areas, congers can be caught, and in some places spurdog can be found, while sea trout make random appearences almost everywhere, but are very rarely caught. Whiting is a possibility in winter. The penninsula is generally rocky all over, with some piers where mullet, and maybe flats can be caught. Bull huss can be caught from the shore in a number of places. The beach by the airstrip, at the beginning of the penninsula is a typical example of the variation experienced in the area. Flounder, ray, pollack, coalfish, conger, sea trout, dogfish, bull huss, bass and codling can all be caught. I know of three shops which sell fishing tackle in the town. The best for sea fishing is probably the sports shop, while just down the road in the hardware store, you can get some good gear also. | All Advantage
