Glen Celtic  1   Lough Harps  0

1 Cormac Raftery The U-12 boys team started their league campaign with a well deserved victory over Lough Harps. Celtic started the brighter and were creating opportunities with Padraic Dillon and Mark Conneally up front causing problems. In midfield Gary Kelly and David Mitchell were on top and working to great effect. On a number of occasions Celtic should have took the lead but the final pass just wasn’t fulfilled. Then Gary Kelly scored a great solo effort cutting in from the right and beating a couple of defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Despite creating further opportunities Celtic went in 1-0 up at half time. In the second half Lough Harps came more into the game and it proved to be a very exciting if nervy 45 minutes for all concerned. Harps forced a number of corners but Celtic dealt with these quite comfortably. At the other end Celtic created chances with Mark Conneally narrowly off target and Padraic Dillon having a couple of efforts saved. At full time the scores remained the same and Celtic deservedly took the three points. A good start but the second half performance can be improved.

Glen Celtic  3  Skyvalley Rovers  0

1 Tomas Dillon An impressive home performance against Skyvalley resulted in a convincing 3-0 victory. Celtic were quick out of the blocks and went ahead when Gary Kelly converted a good chance after 10 minutes. Well in control Celtic were not going to relinquish this result and were causing numerous problems for the Skyvalley defence. In the second half a great through ball saw Ben Conneally easily slot past the advancing keeper to put Celtic 2-0 up and just before the end a good move on the left allowed Cormac Raftery to skip past a number of chances before cooly finishing to give Celtic all three points. A good performance which was thoroughly deserved.

Glen Celtic  3  Strokestown Utd  0

1 Cormac Raftery Glen Celtic U-12's continued their good run of form with an impressive win over a good Strokestown side who were unbeaten until this stage. In a convincing display Celtic went ahead good work by David Mitchell created the opportunity for a shot but this was blocked however the ball dropped to Ben Conneally who had only one thought on his mind and duly dispatched the ball past the advancing keeper. Celtic were well on top and creating chances and it was no surprise when they extended their lead with what arguably has been the best goal of the season so far. Good work by Ross Connolly and Ben Conneally on the right resulted in Ben attacking down the right wing. An inch perfect cross from Ben was met on the volley by Padraic Dillon giving the keeper no chance. 2-0 up at half time and in the second half Celtic continued in the same form with some great play throughout. Despite Strokestown having a couple of chances Celtic guaranteed all three points when Nigel Fahy hit an unstoppable left foot shot from just outside the penalty area. Good team performance with Celtic's defence on top form and the midfield and forwards creating a number of chances.

Roscommon Town  1  Glen Celtic  0

1 Ben Conneally Glen Celtic U-12’s unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday evening when they were defeated by Roscommon Town. In the first half Celtic were slow to start and were a goal behind within 10 minutes due to slack defending. Posistional changes at the back proved effective but still the spark which had been there for the last couple of games failed to materialise. Roscommon had a couple of half chances but this time the defence came out on top. In the second half it was a different story with Celtic now looking like a completely different team. Chance after chance was created but due to some good goalkeeping and erractic shooting an equaliser failed to materialise. Credit to the team for the second half performance which was exceptional however the first half was to cost them dearly as they dropped valuable points.

Lough Harps  0  Glen Celtic  2

1 Tomas Dillon Glen Celtic U-12’s continued their impressive form against Lough Harps away on Tuesday evening although they were given a testing time against a very good Lough Harps team. In the first half both sided created chances but neither team could break the deadlock. However in the second half Gary Kelly scored a good individual goal when cutting in from the left before dispatching neatly in the corner. Celtic though were allowing Lough Harps back into the game and lack of concentration nearly allowed Harps to equalise a couple of times. However with five minutes to go Gary Kelly picked up the ball 20 yards out and rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner to seal the points. All in all a good result but still room for improvement.

Glen Celtic  4  Shiven Rovers  0

1 Tomas Dillon And so the U-12's continue to win with a good workmanlike win against local rivals Shiven Rovers. This game started slowly with both teams wasting a lot of possession and with the wind behind their backs Celtic seemed very nervous at the start. Defensively Celtic were strong throughout with Ross Connolly at right back impressive throughout and clearing the danger on a number of occasions. Luke Murray at centre back also made some telling interceptions and clearances when Shiven looked dangerous. David Mitchell the other center half made some telling foray's into the Shiven half and from one of these Celtic opened the scoring when the ball fell to Mitchell twenty yards out and he hit a good shot which the keeper saw late and went into the net. Shiven though to their credit came back into the match and created chances but were unable to break down the Celtic rearguard. The second half though saw Celtic put in an impressive display with the midfield pairing of Ben Conneally and Nigel Fahy impressive and creating havoc for the Shiven defence. Celtic doubled their advantage with a peach of a goal when the Shiven goalkeepers kickout reached Daniel Smith and from twenty yards out he expertly lobbed the keeper with a great shot. Celtic continued to press and Nigel Fahy had a well hit drive turned around the post brilliantly by the Shiven keeper. Nigel took the corner and his inswinging shot found the net to put Celtic three up. Then with 10 minutes to go Ben Conneally broke through the Shiven defence to put the final touches to the victory with a well placed effort. Near the end Celtic had a couple of chances but Sean Connolly was unlucky to see his shot go narrowly wide. Great performance in the second half and committment second to none see Celtic with 18 points after 7 games which is a great achievement.

Skyvalley Rovers  2   Glen Celtic  1

1 Tomas Dillon Glen Celtic U-12's travelled to Skyvalley on Tuesday evening in this U-12 league match. Missing a number of regulars this was always going to be a tough encounter however despite being narrowly defeated Celtic can hold their heads high with a good display where for large parts of the game they were the better team only to see missed opportunities cost them dearly. From the kickoff Skyvalley looked dangerous but Celtic gradually weathered the early pressure and began to exert themselves with Nigel Fahy and Ben Conneally in midfield beginning to get the upper hand. David Mitchell and Luke Murray were playing well in defence and it looked like Celtic would make the breakthrough with Nigel Fahy sending a shot narrowly wide. However it was to be Skyvalley who took the lead when a good ball into the area was finished well giving Thomas Dillon no chance in the Celtic goal. In the second half Celtic fought bravely to get back into the match with Luke Murray having a couple of free kicks just go narrowly over the bar and then Ben Conneally's corner was met by Sean Connolly and despite appeals for handball by a Skyvalley defender the ball was cleared. Skyvalley then scored a second with five minutes remaining when they broke through to effectively end the game. Celtic did get a penalty which was well converted by Ben Conneally but it was too late to affect the result. All in all a good performance with Thomas Dillon in goal making some good saves in the second half and Celtic having good performances all over the pitch. Only the second loss of the league campaign and with the top two of Roscommon and Strokestown still to play Celtic still can hold out hope of getting something in the League.

Glen Celtic   1  Roscommon Town  6

1 Tomas Dillon After only conceding three goals so far in the League campaign, Celtic bowed out tamely in the cup competition and conceded six. Celtic were never in the game on Tuesday which was not helped with a couple of regulars missing and more carrying niggling injuries. Celtic found themselves four nil down at half time and never recovered although their second half performance was a big improvement. They eventually scored when Padraic Dillon finished from close range after good work by Gary Kelly. It was a disappointing display but based on previous results this was a once off occurrence and they are strong enough to bounce back.

Strokestown Utd  0   Glen Celtic  0

1 Tomas Dillon Celtic’s U-12’s gained a valuable away point at Strokestown last Tuesday evening. In a game which flowed from side to side both teams had chances to hit a winner but excellent defending meant that the points were shared. Good performance all round and some excellent individual displays.

Glen Celtic  0  Roscommon Town  1

1 Tomas Dillon Final league match of the season saw Celtic in with a chance of forcing a play off against Roscommon Town if they could get all three points. In the first half Celtic started brightly and saw good efforts by Gary Kelly and Luke Murray well saved by the Roscommon keeper. Celtic also squandered a number of chances which was to prove costly in the end. In the second half Roscommon were sharper and only a good save by Tomas Dillon prevented them taking the lead. At the other end Ben Conneally forced the Roscommon keeper to respond quickly to a well hit effort. With 15 minutes left though Roscommon dealt the killer blow when they split open the Celtic defence and scored the winner. Celtic to their credit came back and nearly equalised with the last kick of the game which would have seen them finish runners up in the league however again the keeper saved well. In the end Roscommon won the league title and Celtic are left with a chance of finishing runners up when they face Strokestown Utd in a winner takes all playoff.

Ballinagare    2   Glen Celtic  1

1 Tomas Dillon Glen Celtic U-12’s travelled to Ballinagare last Tuesday evening and despite being beaten still believe they can progress to the next round of the Divisional Cup with the second leg still to play in Glen. Missing a couple of regulars Celtic started brightly and should have took the lead with some good chances going astray. Ballinagare were dangerous on the break but the Celtic defence held firm and were giving nothing away. In the second half though Celtic errors were to cost them dear and Ballinagare capitalised on these mistakes taking a two goal advantage. Celtic though were not going to give up and Gary Kelly scored a good individual effort to narrow the deficit. Despite some good pressure in the final minutes Celtic failed to find the equaliser.
