Glendarragh Studios were founded in 1999 in response to the growing shortage of quality studio space within easy reach of Dublin. The first four purpose built studios were built with the help of LEADER, (European funding for rural Development) and a further four studios were added in 2002.

Just 35kms south of Dublin, Glendarragh Studios are situated in a beautiful rural valley in North County Wicklow. Surrounded by farmland and yet just five minutes drive from the village of Newtownmountkennedy and the N11, the studios provide a peaceful yet stimulating place for professional artists to work. Artists have access to three kilns for ceramic or glass work, hand and power tools, and a print studio. All the studios have double glazing, central heating and hot and cold water, as well as excellent light, and inspiring views.

The policy of the studios is to provide quality workspace for fulltime, professional artists. A broad variety of disciplines is encouraged, and at present the studios house a weaver, glass artist, painters, printmakers and sculptors. One studio is dedicated to short term usage to enable artists to work towards a particular project, the others are leased on a yearly basis.
