Johnny Boyle

GLENTIES, CO. DONEGAL

Although he attended Dun Laoghaire Collage of Art from 1972 - 1974, Johnny considers himself to be mainly self taught. He works mostly in water-colour but also works in oils and mixed media. The barren and bleak mountain landscape of his native Donegal is his major theme and he is continually seeking new ways to express his feelings for this textural landscape. Another recurring theme is the exciting abstract quality of the colours and shapes of the local fishing ports of Burtonport and Killybegs.

Johnny is partaking in a joint Irish / Dutch exhibition of artists which opens in the Dutch city of Groningen on 5th March 2000.
