Meaning a circular stone fort. The crossroads here link up many well-used routes.
The South road leads to Lisheen bog, Leitra and Patch.
The North road leads to Ballyhaunus and Williamstown.
The West road is the main road which leads to Dunmore and further on to Tuam, Galway's secondary city.
The East road leads back to Glenamaddy.
There is a statue of Our Lady at the crossroads now marking "The Bush of Cashel". It was a very large oak tree, measuring between 20 to 30 feet high. It had the reputation as been a fairy bush. Lights and "little folk" were meant to be seen underneath.
