The East Galway School of Music was established in January 1999 as an initiative of the musical society. The Society has been mounting an annual production since 1994 and saw a demand for music lessons in the area. They set about researching into the idea of a Music School and as a result of this, the East Galway School of Music was established.
The school opened its doors in January
1999 and has gone from strength to strength since then. It is community based and is
administered by Voluntary Executive Committee. It covers a radius of twenty miles to
include towns such as Tuam, Dunmore, Mountbellew, Castlerea, and Roscommon.
The East Galway School of Music website will be launched towards the end of this month (August 2000).
