John Hall appears to be the seller of the land John Hall appears to have purchased the land in 1700
Some of the land was Granted by Patent 7 December 1666 to James Ouldfield

Notes for Boate, Gerard
Gerard Boate (also Gérard de Boot, Bootius or Botius) (1604, Gorinchem – 1650, Dublin) was a Dutch physician, known for his Natural History of Ireland.
Life Boate was born Gerrit/Gerard Boot, in Gorinchem, son of the knight Godfried Boot (c.1570–1625) and of Christine van Loon. He entered the university of Leyden as a medical student and graduated there as doctor of medicine 3 July 1628. His younger brother Arnold Boate (1606–1653) followed him to study medicine in Leiden. Both moved to London around 1630, where their family had settled earlier. Gerard became employed as physician to Charles I of England and Arnold as physician to the Earl of Leicester. In 1631 in London Gerard married Catharina Menning (or Manning) with whom he had three children.[1]
Boate became a contributor to the fund under the English act of parliament of 1642, which admitted the Dutch to subscribe money for the reduction of the Irish, to be subsequently repaid by grant of forfeited lands in Ireland. He was admitted a licentiate of the College of Physicians 6 November 1646. In April 1649 the appointment of Boate as doctor to the hospital at Dublin was referred by the council of state in London to Oliver Cromwell, who had just been appointed commander-in-chief for Ireland. The treasurer-at-war in the following September paid Boate fifty pounds, as physician for Ireland.
Boate arrived in Ireland at the latter end of 1649, while Cromwell was in command there, but he survived only a short time. He died in January 1650. In repayment of Boate's contributions, his widow Katherine Boate, obtained, under certificate dated 15 November 1667, over one thousand acres of land in Tipperary. Among their descendants was the High Court judge Godfrey Boate,[2] remembered for the mocking ,legy on his death by Jonathan Swift. The Boate lands passed by inheritance to the Hemsworth family.
Works In 1630 he published a book styled ‘Horæ Jucundæ.’ With his brother Arnold, he produced a treatise on philosophy, Philosophia Naturalis Reformata, published in 1641.
To support the interest of adventurers subscribing for potential Irish lands, he undertook the compilation of a work to supply information on Irish produce. Boate himself had never visited Ireland; but materials for his work were furnished by his brother Arnold and by some of the English who had been expelled by the Irish rebellion of 1641. Boate started the ‘Natural History’ early in 1645 and completed it within the year, but its publication was deferred.
Boate's papers and his ‘Natural History’ left behind him in London came into the hands of Samuel Hartlib. With the assent of Arnold Boate, then in Paris, the ‘Natural History’ was published at London in 1652 by Hartlib, with a dedication to Oliver Cromwell and Charles Fleetwood, commander-in-chief in Ireland.[3] In his dedication,
Hartlib observed: I lookt also somewhat upon the hopefull appearance of replanting Ireland shortly, not only by the adventurers, but happily by the
calling in of exiled Bohemians and other Protestants also, and happily by the invitation of some well affected out of the Low Countries, which to advance are thoughts suitable to your noble genius, and to further the settlement thereof, the Natural History of that countrie will not be unfit, but very subservient.
The ‘Natural History’ is divided into twenty-four chapters. In a letter, dated Paris, 10 August, prefixed to the volume and addressed to Hartlib, Arnold Boate stated that his brother had contemplated three more books on the plants, ‘living creatures,’ and natives of Ireland respectively. A French version, under the title of ‘Histoire Naturelle d'Irlande,’ was published at Paris in 1666. A quarto edition of the ‘Natural History’ by Boate was published at Dublin in
1726, and reissued there in 1755. It was again published in the first volume of a ‘Collection of Tracts and Treatises illustrative of the Natural History, Antiquities, and Political and Social State of Ireland,’ Dublin, 1860. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerard_Boate Accessed 1 March 2013
BOAT (Dr. Gerard, or Gerrit), b. Gorinchem in 1604, deceased in Dublin in 1650, son of Godefroy (col. 213) and Christina van Loon.
He studied and graduated in medicine at Leiden, then left ± 1630 to his family in England and established himself as a physician in London. His great abilities and godly way of life attracted the attention of King Charles I, who appointed him as his personal physician. After the disastrous end of this prince January 30, 1649, left England Boat and went to Dublin, where his brother Arnold (col.211), physician to the viceroy of Ireland had been there and had many friends.
He practiced successfully the Latin and Nederduitsche poetry, as appears from the poems in a few parts of the Dutch Oorloghen Pieter Christiaensz. Bor with his father's sister was married.
His motto was: "Christo duce timendum nil '.
Dr.. G. Boat married in London in 1631 to Catharina Menning, or Manning, with whom he begat three sons, namely Gerard, in 1707 still in Dublin in life as a lawyer before the Court of Ireland - Godefroy, deceased in 1681 as one of the six secretaries at the chancery of Ireland - Boat and Gerson, still alive in 1707 as pastor of the German church Dublin.

Boate, Gerard [formerly Gerrit Boot] (1604–1650), physician and natural historian, was born in Gorinchem, the Netherlands, one of five children born to Godefroy de Boot (c.1570–1625), soldier and author, and Christina van Loon (fl. 1600–1630). He entered the University of Leiden, possibly first as a student of letters, but certainly as a medical student, on 21 June 1628. He graduated DM on 3 July 1628. In 1630 he published the well-received Vrolycke uuren (Horae jucundae), a book of Low German and Latin poems. About 1630 Boate and his younger brother Arnold Boate, also a medical student from Leiden, went to England to join their mother and sisters. Boate settled in London, where he was appointed physician to the king. In 1631 he married Katherine Menning.
Most of what we know of Boate and his brother stems from their close association with the Boyle family and other Anglo-Irish politicians, and with Samuel Hartlib. They were men of science, Baconian empiricists, protestants, and improvers. Webster suggests that they were part of Boyle's Invisible College and they were certainly involved in Hartlib's Office of Address for Communications for the dissemination of useful learning. The brothers turned their
reforming pens first to philosophy and in 1641 published a treatise critical of Aristotelian philosophy, an event referred to by Samuel Beckett in his poem ‘Whoroscope’: but Gerard is remembered mainly for his natural history of Ireland. This was a project of some importance to the Hartlibians. When he wrote his natural history Boate had never visited the country. He relied on information from his brother, who had spent eight years travelling and practising
medicine there, and from Sir William Parsons, surveyor-general of Ireland, his son Richard, and other families who had been driven from their large Irish estates by the civil war. Boate apparently completed his natural history by 1645, having begun work in 1644 when Arnold sent information, but it was not published immediately.
Boate was admitted a licentiate of the College of Physicians on 6 November 1646 and his London practice throve. On 17 July 1647 Boate's Irish connections secured him appointment as physician to the army in Ireland, but the disturbances there delayed his arrival until towards the end of 1649 and he died in Dublin in January 1650.
Boate's papers were acquired by Hartlib after his death. They included medical papers, particularly Boate's ‘choicest secrets’,
namely ‘1. Receipt against the Consumption Cough for which he was mainly cryed up. 2. Receipt against the stone. 3. Receipt of his
Purge which the old Archbishop Abbot hugely commended because the next day the body was not costive or bound which was a great
inconveniency in all other purges’ (Hartlib MSS, Ephemerides 1653, pt 2 28/2/57A). They also included his natural history, which
Hartlib, with the agreement of Arnold Boate, who was then in Paris and who edited the text, published as Ireland's naturall history …
conducing to the advancement of navigation, husbandry, and other profitable arts and professions … published … for the common good of
Ireland, and more especially for the benefit of the adventurers and planters there (1652). The dedication to Oliver Cromwell and Charles
Fleetwood, commander-in-chief in Ireland, apparently by Hartlib but in fact by John Durie, is a fine piece of religious writing. He
expresses the hope that Ireland will be settled by Adventurers and perhaps exiled Bohemians and other protestants. Boate's text itself
is described by Webster as ‘a major development in economic geography’ (Webster, 429). In a break with the chorographic
tradition of Camden which emphasized antiquities and local curiosities, Boate describes natural resources plainly and
systematically to produce a coherent regional geography. There is little topographic information and there are no maps, but his
scientific education is evident from his descriptions of geology and processes such as glass making. His aim was systematic description
as a prelude to improvement by and for protestant settlers: consequently the natural features of the country are described with
enthusiasm to interest new settlers, but the Irish are reproached for their failure to improve the land and for their unruliness and
disorderliness. This might well reflect the influence of William Parsons who was fiercely anti-Catholic and bitter towards the Irish.
In a letter to Hartlib prefixed to the volume Arnold Boate stated that his brother had contemplated three further books on the flora,
fauna, and people of Ireland respectively. A French translation was published in 1666 and further versions were published in Dublin in
1726, 1755, and 1860. Hartlib prevailed unsuccessfully on several others to complete the work of producing a natural history of
Ireland: Arnold Boate contributed an interrogatory or questionnaire about Ireland to Hartlib's Reformed Spiritual Husbandman of 1652.
Further progress was made by Robert Wood and Miles Symner but the impetus for scientific reform in Ireland passed to the surveying and
mapping of Petty and others, and Gerard Boate's contribution remained the most important part of the natural history project.
Boate and his wife are listed among the Adventurers who financed the English suppression of the Irish rising of 1641, and in repayment
Boate's widow Katherine obtained under certificate dated 15 November 1667 more than 1000 acres of land in co. Tipperary. Boate's sons
Gerard, Godefroy, and Gerson, became respectively a lawyer, a Treasury secretary, and a preacher to the German congregation in
Dublin. Other descendants played a distinguished part in the history of Irish medicine into the twentieth century.

Notes for Hemsworth, Denysius
"The common ancestor with whom the descendents of John in Burgoyne's Army and article author eventually link is Thomas Hemsworth of Garforth Morehouse, Yorkshire, England. He died December 7, 1572 at Garforth and his wife Elizabeth Agnes Middleton died in 1583.
Among quite a few other children, Thomas and Elizabeth had Stephen (b 1538, Swillington, West Riding, Yorkshire; d. February 1584/85, Ledsham, Yorkshire), who married Isabella Killingbeck.
Stephen and Isabella are the direct ancestors of John Hemsworth in Burgoyne's Army. They also had another son, Denysius Hemsworth, later of Rothwell, Yorkshire.
Denysius is the direct ancestor of William Henry Hemsworth, who arrived in Dublin, Ireland, in about 1650 to become rector of St. Anne's parish lands.
Henry's grandson, Godfrey Hemsworth, is the common direct ancestor to Christopher William Hemsworth (who arrived in Ontario, Canada, in 1852) and of two lines of current day Australian Hemsworths.
Another grandson, Thomas of Loughrea, co. Galway, is my direct ancestor." http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/h/e/m/George-R-Hemsworth/FILE/0001text.txt

520. de Boot, Godefrid. Godefrid was born about 1570. He died in 1625 at
the age of about 55 years. He was the son of de Boot, Gerard and van
Couwenhoven, Geertruyd. He had a relationship with van Loon,
Christine in 1595.
Notes for de Boot, Godefrid
Godefrid de Boot, knight, of Gorinchem (c.1570-1625) married
Christine van Loon.[1] They had two sons, Gerard and Arnold. Both
brothers studied at the University of Leiden, qualified as doctors
and moved to London, and subsequently Ireland. Arnold was personal
physician to Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester, and subsequently
to James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh; he was also Surgeon General
to the Irish Army, which inspired two of his books. The brothers
collaborated on a work on philosophy, Philsophia Naturalis
Reformata, a refutation of Aristotle [2] and Arnold supplied the
material for Gerard's best-known work The Natural History of
Ireland. Arnold's great interest was in Hebrew studies, on which he
published several works. His most famous book was The Character of a
Truly Virtuous and Pious Woman, an elegy to his wife Margaret,
daughter of the Irish judge Thomas Dongan.[3] Both brothers were
members of the Hartlib circle, the circle of writers who
corresponded with Samuel Hartlib on religion, science and
philosophy.
Due to the disturbed conditions following the Irish Rebellion of
1641 Arnold moved to Paris, where he died in 1653. Gerard moved to
Ireland, to take up a medical post in Dublin where he died in 1650:
in consideration for substantial sums which Gerard had donated for
the suppression of the Irish Rebellion his widow, Katherine Menning,
was granted lands in Tipperary.[4]
Since Arnold's only surviving child was a daughter, the Godfrey
Boate who was described as a clerk in Chancery is likely to have
been the son of Gerard and Katherine. He was the father of Godfrey
Boate junior, who became a High Court judge,[5] whose conduct of a
trial for seditious libel so enraged Jonathan Swift that on the
judges death in 1721 he wrote a mocking Elegy for Judge Boat. He had
no sons and the Boate lands passed by inheritance to the Hemsworth
family.
