IntroductionCan I be a software programmer? How long it will take to become an expert? Which institute I have to join? What course I have to do? Answer. You have come this far. That means you have PC at home or access to PC at your work. Especially you have access to Internet. Buy a good book. Trouble your friends to teach you. Learn the basic from this site and become a pro. Read on to understand what constitute to become a good programmer. I am a programmer since 1992 and I was teaching (part-time) in different institutes in Bombay for 4 years. I have hands-on experience in PowerBuilder, Oracle, VisualBasic, C, C++, Unix. Experience in multiple development tools helps me to easily differentiate the good and bad of each of them. So definitely use my experience to help others become an expert programmer. HurdleFear is the first hurdle. Whenever people fear about anything they are not able to achieve. Remove the fear about what is computer and what is programming. Don't look at programmers with aweful eyes. They are like anybody. By any means they are superior than anybody. Whatever you want to be, first aspire for it. Secondly, people ask should they be good at Mathematics. Of course, not. Maths shows how good one is in adding or substracting without using a calculator. And that is not expected from a programmer. You need to have good analytical skills (is that reasoning?), problem solving abilities and good logics. LogicsWhat is logic? If you are organised then you follow a system. A system is a number of logics involved. For instance, say you are driving a car. You don't have to be a mechanic (ie. the system), to drive a car. When you drive you know how to use the clutch, change the gears and apply the brake (logics). But once you learned to drive it become a second nature to change the gear or apply the brake. Like learning to drive a car you can learn programming. You can develop yourself to become a programer. I assur you, you don't have to be a mathematician or a logicist and YOU CAN ALSO BECOME A PROGRAMMER. |
