- If your PS3 freezes, unplugging it is a bad option, as this could cause some damage to your data. Simply hold the power button found on the front of your PS3 (n.b. not the power switch) until you hear a beep (10 seconds or so). This will force a shutdown of your system, but in a safe manner.
