- Firstly, ensure all cables are snugly fitted, and that the television is not on mute. It is likely that your sound settings are simply set up incorrectly. In the XMB (the PS3 main menu), go to settings, then Sound Settings, then select Audio Output Settings. Follow the wizard. If you are using a HDMI cable, select HDMI for sound. If you are using a scart cable, select Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI.
