For the fisherman, Gorteen has drying sheds for your tackle and gear, and is convenient to the coarse fishing hotspot of the lakes of east Clare, famed for their quality fishing. Mary has a number of contacts in the local angling community who will supply boats and angling details on request.

Gorteen is a working farm, and for those who wish to see farming at first hand, there is a walk through the farm available, leading to an idyllic local lake.

For those who enjoy a round of golf, Gorteen is located a 20 minute drive from the wonderful east Clare golf course, designed by Donal Spring. Set amongst the east Clare hills, this course is in a terrific location but don't let its looks deceive you; east Clare is deceptively challenging.

If you're peckish during your stay, Dinners are available on request, or if you prefer, Mary will recommend the best of the restaurants in nearby Ennis, and in the locality.
