An F1 rookie, Zonta gained his reputation as test driver for both Jordan and McLaren and is one who, despite being support to Jacques Villeneuve, may be able to spring a few surprises. A big crash at Interlagos during qualifying left him with a fractured foot which ruled him out of three GPs. However despite the shortcomings of the BAR-Supertec package it was clear that Zonta has talent.
For 2000, Ricardo remains with BAR - though they will now be powered by Honda. Pre-season testing indicates that the car is reliable, whilst Honda will surely work on the power side of things.
It is vital the Ricardo gets to grips with the car and establishes himself, F1 team bosses are not known for their patience.
