Gardens at Granville House

The gardens at Granville House have a wide range of attributes. They  incorporate an extensive range of plants and shrubs that have been carefully tended to over the years.

The proprieters at Granville House, Emmet and Grainne Cullen, have creatively designed a unique garden with a proportionate yet contrasting relationship between the plantation species. Plants such as Hemerocallis, Chrysanthemums, Primulas and Helleborus are interwoven in style, layout, texture and colour  with shrub and tree species such as the Rhododendron, Azaleas, Hydrangeas, Salix Tortuosa and Cedrus atlantica.

Varying foliage textures and colours influence the quality of light reflected which is further altered by seasonal variations. This  helps to reflect the success of such garden design.

The garden also incorporates three water features that contain many varieties of Goldfish, large and small. A glimpse of these colourful fish can occasionally be anticipated through the leaves of the Water Marigolds and Lily. Intermingled between the bedding plants to the rear of the main pond, can be found rabbits and their burrows, having taken up residence there a number of years back.

Several native bird species can also be found throughout the hedgerows such as Blackbirds, Robins, Thrushes, Wrens, Green Finches and House Sparrows, to name but a few. There is also a large collection of free-flying Doves, Budgerigars, Parakeets, Canaries and other bird species.

As you stay at Granville House, we hope that you enjoy these interesting, varied and colourful features and peaceful surroundings.
