The Parents Association was
set up in April
1996 after a meeting of parents in the school.
All parents and guardians
of pupils in the
school are entitled to join the association.
Our aims are:
(1) To represent the views of parents.
(2) To inform parents of developments in the school.
(3) To foster co-operation between parents/teachers/school maanagement.
(4) To assist in extra curricular activities.
(5) To help provide extra equipment for the school.
A general meeting for all
parents is held
once a year from which members are elected to the
association. Meetings are held Monthly during term time on the first Monday
of each month.
The association is affiliated
to the National Parents Council-Primary branch and two
representatives from the association attend regular meetings at county level.
The two
elected parent representatives on the Board of Management are
automatically members
of the assocation.
So far the association has fund
raised last year for a computer for the school, this we
hope to continue this year and provide another computer for the use of the
pupils.
During our first year we drained a football pitch so that pupils could play outdoors all
year round. We are delighted that we could provide extra sports equipment,
educational
aids and games for pupils also during our first year. So far
this year we are paying for
buses to take pupils to all matches and we
hope that this along with the extra computers has
made a difference to
all pupils in the school.
