Ronan was appointed as conductor of the Greystones Orchestra
in January 2000. He studied piano, oboe, organ and composition
as the College of Music, Dublin. He gained many scholarships and
distinctions before achieving his diplomas. Ronan's musical career
now includes conducting, arranging, teaching and performing.
As oboist, he has worked with the National Symphony Orchestra,
RTE Concert Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra,
Pro Arte Orchestra and National Sinfonia.His engagements as a
keyboard player have ranged from theatre and studio work to the
Lyric Opera Orchestra.
Appointed musical director of the Artane School of Music in 1998,
Ronan conducts the various ensembles incorporated within the school.
These include the Artane Boys Band, described as the "Biggest
little band in the World", which appears at many distinguished
functions and festivals around the country, as well as regular
live Radio and TV sporting events. He also conducts the Artane
Wind Ensemble, and directs the Artane Jazz Ensemble from the piano.
In June 1998 he was appointed as Conductor of the Dublin Youth
Orchestras - Transitional Orchestra, a position he holds to date.
In January 1999 he was appointed conductor of the Greystones Orchestra.
He is currently Wind, Brass and Percussion tutor to the National
Youth Orchestra of Ireland - Under 18's.
His conducting repertoire includes a wide variety of Classical
and Choral music, Opera, Jazz and Musicals.
