This is the home page of Gaelscoil de h'Íde and all Irish speaking
primary school in Oranmore, County Galway. The gaelscoil was founded in
September 1994 and is growing rapidly. The school currently has 3 full
time teachers, and ?? students. Associated with the school, and in the
same building is an all irish nursery school Naíonra
Montessori de h'Íde. The school actively promotes the usage
of Irish in the community and runs night classes for adults wishing to
learn or improve their Irish.
Since 1998 we have had a school bus that collects the children from
the countryside around the area including Ballindeereen, Claregalway and
Knockdoe.
All teaching is done through Irish and Irish is used at all times throughout
the whole school. Even though Irish may not be spoken by a child who first
joins they soon become proficient in it and parents have found that they
themselves also become more used to the language, either by attending the
classes at the school or by the fact the Irish has been introduced into
the family by their children.
We are currently enrolling pupils for September 2000 so if you would
like to come and see the school please call us on the number below.
