Cad é Naíonra?

Go bunúsach, is e a bhíonn sa Naioma ná grúpa páisti a thagann le chéile go rialtai i dtimpeallacht thaitneamhach, go gcuireann an Stiúirthóir ar fáil dóibh gach deis chun a bhforbairt iomlán a chur i gcrích agus é sin trí mheán na Gaeilge.

What is a Naíonra?

A Naíonra is comprised of a group of pre-school children between the ages of 3 to 5 years who convene daily in a prepared environment under the guidance of a specially trained teacher who speaks Irish fluently. The environment is structured to ensure that all aspects of the total development of the child is catered for, while at the same time giving them the opportunity of acquiring Irish with the same ease with which they learned their first language.

Modhanna Montessori

Baintear usáid as réimse mór treallamh Montessori sa Naíonra, ag an am céadhna baintear leas as mhodh an tsúgartha, modh a thugann aithint do mhodh foghlama páisti den aoisgrúpa áirithe seo.

Montessori Methods.

A wide range of Montessori apparatus is used in the Naionra while at the same time the children become involved in a variety of activities and games through which the language is developed.

An Tuismitheoir agus an Naíonra

Bíonn fáilte roimh thuismitheoiri sa naíonra go mór mhór chun cabhair a thabhairt. Bíonn go leor scíleanna speisialta ag tuismitheoiri atá tabhachtach sa naíonra.

Parents and the Naíonra.

Parents are always welcome in the Naíonra. Practical help is required from time to time and parents are always invited to share a special skill e.g art, craft, cooking, gardening, physical education, music etc. Parents are encouraged to speak Irish as much as possible. It takes time for a child to begin using a new language so parents should not be disappointed even if there is no obvious progress after a year in the Naíonra. It takes most children almost two years to learn their first language. Listening and understanding are the essential first simple steps to speaking. The first simple phrases will eventually be extended.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Will the child's first language suffer as a result of exposure to a second?

There is no basis for the fear that the child's first language will suffer by exposure to a second. In many parts of the world two languages (and more) are mastered without difficulty .switching freely according to subject, situation and speaker.

What is the Pupil Teacher Ratio?

Naíonra Montessori de h'Íde adheres strictly to the all conditions outlined in the 1994 Childcare Act and governed by the Western Health Board.
