Any of these books will give you a grasp of globalisation and where today's world is headed. Sean McDonagh's book is the most comprehensive I've come across on Environmental issues. Tom Hanahoe's book describes world power structures from top to bottom better than any other. Both are Irish Authors.

Life - a trip towards trust

Kevin Kelly (Inspiring Irish).

I play on the same soccer team as Kevin.  It was quite a while before I discovered he was a best selling author in Ireland. His books are about (among other things) life experiences, travel, and getting the most out of yourself.  Kevin is also a renowned public speaker and motivator. Galway's good local book stores should all have copies of both his books.
