HINDER IRAQ WAR

 Two massive solar flares in the last 24hours may bathe the Earth in radiation which could affect the satellites needed for a US Iraq campaign. The ejected solar masses are passing Earth Wednesday night and Thurdsday. Unusual weather conduitions caused by the solar flares could also exacerbate sandstorms which have already delayed US military action.

Magnetic fields above sunspot 314 have erupted twice: first at 19:05 on March 17th and again at 12:05, March 18th. Both explosions sparked X1-class solar flares and threw out millions of tons of solar material.

Spaceweather.com --which monitors solar and geomagnetic activity said: "Neither CME was squarely Earth-directed. Nevertheless, the expanding clouds could deliver glancing blows to our planet's magnetic field on March 19th and 20th."

The words "squarely directed" serve to illustrate the played-down potential of these solar flares to cause significant effects on Earth over the next few days.

Missiles which would feature in any Gulf military campaign are highly dependent on satellite location in order to establish their targetting systems. Particulary the Tomahawk missiles used by the US.

Given the military significance of the issue and prior coyness by NASA and other agencies over previous solar events, there is no guarantee that the already significant data released on these flares actually represents the true seriousness of the current situation.
