Our Junior team had started the weekend off on a bright note for the club with a 3-14 to 1-17 win over Buffers Alley in the championship on Saturday afternoon in Hollymount. We played with the aid of the strong breeze in the 1st half and led by 3-9 to 1-9 at the interval, with our goals coming from Brian Denton, Noel Walsh and David O’Connor. We faced a real backs to the wall situation in the 2nd half but our lads dug deep and defended very well to keep us in front. In the end we just managed to hold on and deserved our win. Our scorers on the day were Brian Denton and Noel Walsh 1-2 each, Paul Lambert and Jason Murphy 0-4 each, David O’Connor 1-0, Jason Giltrap and Larry O’Gorman 0-1 each. We have now qualified directly for the quarterfinal and await our opponents from the next round.
