Our Senior team made their exit from this year’s Senior hurling championship with a disappointing defeat to the Shelmaliers in Wexford Park on Sunday last on a scoreline of 2-16 to 3-9. This puts us out of contention for a place in the play off stages of the championship and now means that we face a relegation battle to maintain our Senior status. We started badly and trailed by 1-5 to 0-1 after 15 minutes but recovered to only trail by 2 points at the break at 1-7 to 0-8. However the Shels effectively ended the game in the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half, at which stage we trailed by 11 points. For the 2nd game in a row, we finished strongly with a hat trick of goals by Stephen Nolan but it was all in vain as we eventually lost by 4 points. For the record our scorers were: Stephen Nolan 3-2, Jim Berry and Shane Howard 0-2 each, Donal O’Leary, Liam Goff and Barry Goff 0-1 each.
