Being a part-time farmer I made the decision to purchase a pure breed limousin cow or heifer in1987. I choose limousin because good conformation and muscle, easy calving and an excellent finished animal seemed to be the way to meet what the market needs. After visiting limousin sales in 1987, 1988, & 1989 to view what was on offer I finally purchased a cow and her heifer calf in 1990. Ronick Cosmetic won 1st prize at the sale and went on to produce many prize winners. Our first calf as breeders proved a real success story. Ulysse sired Hawthorne Hannah won prize after prize. In 1992 she won 1st prize at Mullingar, Oldcastle and Trim Shows and 2nd prize at North Eastern Limousin Club Championship. In 1993 she won 1st prize at RDS Spring Show, 1st prize and Supreme Champion at Mullingar Show, 1st prize and Limousin Champion at Longford Show, 1st prize and Limousin Champion at Tullamore Show. Hawthorne Hannah also won prizes in '93, '94, '95, '96, & '97. |
