The house is currently
owned by Headfort Charitable Trust and we pursue a great
range of academic, sporting and cultural activities in
the house and its grounds, whilst remaining, one hopes,
sensitive to the beautiful environment in which we live
and work. As well as the school prospectus, this site
also contains archive material about our recent 50th
Anniversary and detail about the formal rooms in the
house. Renovations continue and as more progress is made,
more will appear here. At the moment, only the Front Hall
has been completed. We are currently seeking funding to
finance all the restoration; if you feel you would like
to help, please Email
us Elsewhere
on the net we deal with the day
to day workings of the
school and
with other
events for which the house is
used ,
including letting arrangements and hiring the house for
parties, conferences and so on.
Headfort is a
large Georgian house in Kells, Co. Meath Eire. It is the
only considerable Irish example of the work of the
Scottish architect and designer Robert Adam. The house
was completed roughly 200 years ago in around 1775.
The exterior was
designed by the Irish architect George Semple and many of
Adam's designs for the interior were somewhat modified,
though his characteristic Neo-Classical motifs abound in
the principal rooms of the house.
