DAIRY FARMING
1. You have to clean the cow's udders.
2. Check the cow for mastitis - an udder disease that a cow can get.
3. Feed them nuts. Then you can put on the clusters and wait till
the cow is milked. When the cow is milked you have to spray her with a special spray
to stop infection. When putting the clusters on, make sure there is no air coming
out and there is no dirt getting in. When putting the clusters on or off make sure to keep your head
out of the way, just in case the cow kicks.
Cows milk better if they have classical
music playing in the background. After the milking, clean and sterilise all of the equipment. Wash the clusters
and the milk jars well. After the milkman has collected the milk, make sure the following things are done.
1. The milk tank should be hosed out with cold water. 2. Make up 9 litres of detergent steriliser and put it into a plastic bucket. Throw it into the milk tank and brush it around with a hard bristled brush. In the winter the cows should be bedded with fine straw or sawdust in their cubicles. The shed has to be rebedded each week. Remember that the inspector can come any time so keep your farm clean!.
