A very mixed bag from the High Heath.

Dull and cold all day with occasional showers.

Not much mistaking the Aleura aurantia - Orange Peel Fungus.

A nice little cluster of Hypholoma fasciculare - Sulphur Tuft.

In August I showed an Ichneumon laying eggs in the seedheads of Knapweed. This image shows a cocoon of some kind in the top of the stem. Note that the seeds have been eaten, leaving just the feathery pappus.

This fly is quite dead, killed by the Entomophthora muscae fungus. Thin strands of fungus can be seen emerging from various parts of the body.
