A very mixed bag from the High Heath.
Dull and cold all day with occasional showers. |
Not much mistaking the Aleura aurantia - Orange Peel Fungus. |
A nice little cluster of Hypholoma fasciculare - Sulphur Tuft.

In August I showed an Ichneumon laying eggs in the seedheads of Knapweed. This image shows a cocoon of some kind in the top of the stem. Note that the seeds have been eaten, leaving just the feathery pappus. |
This fly is quite dead, killed by the Entomophthora muscae fungus. Thin strands of fungus can be seen emerging from various parts of the body.
