Bog just off original Hedgerow, leg 2.

Frequent rain showers.

I knew it was time for the Bulrush Wainscot to fly, so I thought I'd check for fresh pupae and I found two quite quickly.

You can just see the shed skin to the right of the pupa.

These have been taken in order to photograph the adults or, indeed, to see if they have been parasitized, and if so by what.

As I examined the Typha for the pupae I found this little (1 cm.) mollusc on one of the leaves. Probably aquatic, as it strongly reminds me of  the marine Whelk.

At 8 am on a 'soft' (wet) Donegal morning there are bound to be some water droplet pictures. The Typha didn't disappoint.

Later I found the first Snowberries. Shot taken with flash.

And I also found this Small Cream Wave - Scopula immutata.

And even later: a Red Carpet on a red carpet. Xanthorhoe decoloraria decoloraria.
