Fungal Foray to Errigal Glen, Garvagh, NI.

Rain later in the day.

There is a great deal of dead wood in Errigal Glen - ideal for fungi like the Honey Fungus - Armillaria mellea.

From a distance these looked like Chanterelles, but a quick flip over and we see spines instead of gills. This is the yellow form of the Hedgehog fungus - Hydnum repandum var rufescens.

Earlier in the year I showed what I thought was Marasmius wynnei, but having seen these specimens, I now realise that the previous sample was Collybia confluens.

A cluster of Mycenas on a dead coniferous stump.

And Mycena pura, which smells of radish.

I thought I'd take this shot of Russula maerei - the Beechwood Sickener - before the slugs got involved.

And a top-shot of Russula nigricans, which I showed last week.
