28th January

Original Hedgerow, leg 1.

Cloudy with showers.

Two flowers that are very nearly open: Opposite-leaved Golden Saxifrage (left) and Lesser Celandine (right).

I just noticed the leaves to the top of the Saxifrage shot. Whatever they are, they're new to the site. I'm off to investigate.

A fungal infection of last year's stems of Cow Parsley.

I like these red Ivy leaves.

A precocious Bramble shoot. It looks a bit frost-burnt.

Bilberry is making plenty of new growth.

A couple of shots showing the wonderful leaves of the moss Hookeria lucens. The leaf cells are almost visible to the naked eye. Leaves about 7 mm long.

Lastly, a shot of Ash buds.
