Errigal is our highest mountain, and can be seen in the far distance with its head in the clouds.

 

A fantastic shot of the Bronzy Willow Beetle - Phratora vitellinae.

Wood Horsetail grew in great profusion here when the forestry was mature and there was deep shade. Now that the trees are (temporarily) gone the Field Horsetail is taking over.

    

 

A few frog tadpoles survive in this very shallow puddle.

The first leaves of Northern Marsh Orchid. Note the spun leaf at the top right. The culprit is Celypha lacunana - a generalist micromoth.

    

Pond skaters - Gerris lacustris - scuttle away at the slightest shadow, but quickly come back if you stay still.

    

This Eyelash Fungus - Scutellinia scuttelata - was very bright. About 1 cm. across.

Yellow Pimpernel is abundant everywhere there is shade from trees.
