High heath.

Dull with showers.

When I first saw this mushroom from distance, my reaction was 'Brown Roll Rim', but on flipping it over I found it was Lactarius rufus. The fungi this year appear to be much larger than usual. This was a full 10 cm. across. A fine specimen.

And nearby, on coniferous/heather debris, Laccaria proxima. The fibrous red stipe is the clue here.

The larva of Willow Leaf Beetle -

On the return, a quick visit to the Hedgerow, leg 2. I found a couple of sawflies:

And a red-abdomened spider.

I also found the end of an era. The left-hand image shows where the Typha latifolia used to be, and the right-hand image shows where the Willow grove used to be.

The biodiversity of Hedgerow leg 2 won't be the same again.
