16th August

High heath, in the rain.

Dull with heavy showers.

A very wet and dark trip, just to walk the dogs.

The lichen Baeomyces rufus is in fruit again. This is the specimen on an old stump.

An update on the Sawfly larvae shown last week. The shapes carved out in the leaves are more developed, now, and the larvae will soon be gone. I wonder if the female measures just how much space each larva will need when she lays the eggs.

A very brightly coloured Cranefly was sheltering from the rain.
