Recent building-site near the Swilly estuary.

1 x Small White.

Cloudy but dry.

Recently-disturbed soil is a magnet for species such as Redleg - Persicaria maculosa (right) - and Fat Hen - Chenopodium album - (left centre). The disturbed soil is the result of a new building site: another good habitat gone.

Disturbed soil is also good for Knotgrass.

A solitary Helophilus pendulus hoverfly basking on a leaf.

The Shaded Broadbar moth - Scotopteryx chenopodiata.

Thistledown is starting to fly from Spear Thistle.

I really liked this shot of a Small White butterfly nectaring on Creeping Thistle, backlit by sun filtering through a hedge.
