High Heath.

Cloudy but dry.

The Clover leafmining Agromyzid fly Agromyza nana. Notice that the mine starts as a small corridor and quickly transforms into a blotch. Note also that the fly pupates inside the leaf: the pupa is clearly visible in each image.

The Capsid bugs must be one of my next areas for study.

When I put up images of solitary bees, I often get the feedback "those are just like ants". Well, this IS a flying ant. I didn't know they nectared, but why not?

A shot of the hoverfly Eristalis interruptus on Devilsbit Scabious. Nice photo.

There are very few larvae of Cinnabar Moth on Ragwort this year. I often see them in their hundreds, but this was the only one on the (well-defoliated) plant.

When the thistledown has gone, the empty receptacle still has some beauty of its own.
