Original Hedgerow, leg 2.

Updated 22nd August with some partial id's for Ichneumonids.

Dull with heavy showers.

An adult Pentatoma rufipes - Forest Shieldbug. The specific name rufipes refers to the red legs.

Second and third instar of the Nematus pavidus larvae.

The other day I showed the sequential egg-laying. Here I have (clockwise from 12) newly laid eggs surrounded by hatched larvae, mature eggs (1 o'clock), instar-2 larvae (large hole, 6 o'clock), and a hatching batch at 10 o'clock. These must be from different females, since a single female wouldn't lay batches this close to each other.
