High deforested area. The light was fading fast.

 

Just the other day I read about a lichen whose fruiting bodies look like drops of tar. Can I find the reference? Nope.

Lecidea lithophila.

Specimen about 2cm. across.

 

 

Another lichen - Usnea fragilescens - growing on heather, which is its normal habitat.

 

 

Almost...almost...spring is upon us. These Willow buds are pushing the boundaries of reason.

And here's a philosophical question. This little shoot of leaves has appeared on an apparently dead stem of Slender St. John's Wort - Hypericum pulchrum. Given the fact that this is a perennial, is this shoot 8 months late or 4 months early?
