Lough Arrow is probably one of the finest angling lakes in Europe. covering approximately 3,123 acres in size, this lake has a good stock of brown trout, perch and pike, and to a lesser extent bream and rudd. The lake is pollution free, and is therefore one of the most popular trout fishing lakes in Europe.

Other lakes in the area are Lough Bo, Lough na Sool, Lough Key, and Lough Gill just to mention a few.

Lough Arrow

Is one of the few limestone lakes in Connaught. It is said that the lake is named after Anaghcloy Peninsula which juts out onto the lake in the form of an arrow. There are four main islands on the lake. These are Anaghgowla, Inismore, Inisbeg and Muck island. Swan island and Stoney island are the two smaller islands. The deepest section of the lake is around Stoney island and is about 120 feet in depth.
