In fairness Ahane and Murroe are outside the area you are specifying....both have contributed to county teams in the recent past...however, also in that area are Ballylanders and Galbally and a few more staunch football areas...

it is a valid point, for a county considered by most to be a strong hurling county, the geographical spread of players is poor...

not the point L1. You've posted this already. We understand. You either don't think it's funny or you don't get the gag or you are annoyed that some others think it's funny or that their is nothing inherently humourous about Kilkenny. That's fine. You are entitled to your view and to express it how often you like. The point is a code of ethics. I'm prepared to come clean if you and everyone else are. Be prepared for a surprise though.

All the best.

Arr/Sid

I think you are missing my point.

I dont find your post unfunny, I just find your muddying tactics tedious. Nothing more than that.
Reveal yourself in some Blainelike fanfare, that's your own buisness, I couldnt give a fiddlers one way or the other.
I'd conservatively estimate that a fair few of the regulars know exactly who I am. Anybody who doesnt know who i am probably doesnt give a flying **** one way or the other.

We know exactly who you are, you are that upstart bookmaker who tried to catch the almightly Coreahln/Mulcair/TexasRider combo out.

I remember they had particular venom for your occupation, despite their own website being paid for by pop-up adds for someone in your industry.

Now what about them Tipp boys down in St Kierans?

Is it just me or is the Prince of Darkness about to make a re-appearance?
I will leave a few cloves of garlic out tonight.

(i)In terms of geographical area that provides players to the senior panel compare Kilkenny to Limerick. Point being that Kilkenny players are more widespread throughout Kilkenny as a county than Limerick, meaning that the quality is spread over a number of areas than Limerick, meaning more strong clubs.

(ii)Limerick City is primarily known as a soccer and rugby playing city. Compare the percentage of hurlers supplied from Kilkenny city to the Kilkenny Panel as opposed to Limerick. Kilkenny City have a junior rugby team, and a division 1 eircom league team. Limerick City on the other hand have 7 senior Rugby teams, umpteen junior rugby teams, an eircom league division 1 team, umpteen junior soccer teams

(iii) Look at the county champions. Adare Patrickswell and Ahane have accounted for every title since 1994. In Kilkenny (correct me if i'm wrong) O'Loughlins, Graigue/Ballycallan, Young Irelands, Glenmore, Tullaroan, Ballyhale & Dunamaggin and possibly more would have won titles in the same period

Primary Emphasis on only one game has to be a factor here.

(iv) If you were to do an advanced calculation and take each player from the senior panels in Kilkenny and Limerick, take the population of parish their club is based in, and take the ratio of population providing players to the Limerick and Kilkenny squads, you will find that the population of the parishes of the clubs providing players to the Kilkenny squad is far greater. This is simply because there are no other distractions. You tell me that there are 50K+ people living in Limerick, they are immediately discounted, because no club within the Limerick city population boundary provided a player to the Limerick squad this year or last year or even in 2001. You have to go back to 2000 for Michael Galligan & Shane O'Neill. Mungret, Patrickswell, and Monaleen are in the city division but were outside the city boundary for that census.

(i) There are only 12 senior clubs in Kilkenny.Add to that just 12 intermediate , and 15 Junior clubs , thats just 39 in total

(ii) There is a very strong soccer community in Kilkenny city , and all through the county. The divisional team that plays in the Oscar Tranor Cup , has gotten to numerous semi finals and finals. Kilkenny also has a huge area sitting near Waterford , drawing sports men and women towards Waterpark and Waterford City Rugby clubs and there is another very strong district soccer lge along with Waterford City soccer club (you would be just amazed at the numbers from south Kilkenny that support the 'Blues'.
Lets discount the city so , and please don't try and tell me hurling isn't played there at all, that still leaves a population of approx 121,000 versus Kilkennys 80,000

(iii) I really don't know what Co champions have to do with anything.Since 94 in Kilkenny we've had Tullaroan, Glenmore x 2 ,Gowran x 2 , GBallycallan x 2 , Dunamaggin and O'Loughlin Gaels x 1 each. But look at '87 to '92 when Glenmore and the Shamrocks shared 6 titles or '78 to '83 when the Shamrocks and J Stephens again shared 6.Whats the point ?

(iv) The point is that primary game or not , Kilkennys population is only 80,000 where except for Offaly all the other hurling counties are much more heavly populated , thats the raw ingredient in producing hurlers , and ye should be doing better IMO.
I'd like to see your 'advanced calculation' , would you have the rugby grips on or off , when doing that now ???

Hey Grace,

You are forgetting about the special secret breeding program ye
have down in KK which insures that the hurling gene gets stronger
with each succeeding generation. It's the only semi-plausible
explanation I can come up with as to your continued success!

You'll always likely to get a few runts in the pack however i.e.
Arrigle but they can be cast off into academia where they can
wreck havoc on the masses in different ways .

Will you just write a book and get it over an done with.
